Ficus Elastica Tineke 3.5'
The Ficus Elastica ‘Tineke’ is a striking variegated cultivar of the rubber tree, native to South and Southeast Asia, where ficus species have been cultivated for centuries as ornamental and shade trees. Tineke is distinguished by its broad, glossy leaves marbled with soft greens, creamy whites, and hints of blush, giving it a refined yet lively presence.
Rubber plants gained popularity in interior spaces during the mid-20th century for their resilience, strong structure, and architectural form. When grown outdoors in tropical climates, Ficus Elastica can reach 30–40 feet tall, but indoors it grows at a much slower pace, typically maturing between 6–10 feet over many years with proper care.
Care instructions
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its creamy variegation. It can tolerate medium light, but lower light may result in slower growth and less contrast in the leaves. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, which can scorch foliage.
Water
Water when the top 2–3 inches of soil feel dry. Ficus prefer consistency, so avoid cycles of overwatering and complete dryness. Reduce watering in cooler months.
Temperature & Humidity
Prefers warm, stable temperatures between 65-80°F (18–27°C) and moderate humidity. It adapts well to average indoor conditions, but appreciates occasional misting in drier environments. Keep away from cold drafts and vents.
